Always and All Things
Ephesians 5:20
Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
I think most of us, if we sit back and looked at things, would be shocked at how many things we do as a complete routine. From our morning routine to preparing for the time to go to bed, we all have certain things we do on a normal basis. When things are that much of a routine, that’s when we notice that something is different. We just know when something feels off or that we forgot to do something.
We’ve heard our pastor preach: What if you only had today what you were thankful for yesterday?
Is being thankful part of our routine? Sure, we might ask for blessing on our food when we sit down to eat, but what about the rest of the day? We are less than a week away from Thanksgiving. It’s a time when we will all be more thankful, and there is nothing wrong with that. However, the Bible tells us in our text that we are to give thanks always! Do we? Do we thank God each day for something besides our food? What about “in all things”? When was the last time you were thankful for that trial in your life? When was the last time you felt overwhelmed about something, but you were thankful God gave you the ability to make it through it before, and He is about to again?
In this period of being thankful, let’s not forget that the Lord has been so good to us that we should be thankful always, not just around a holiday!
God bless,
