What has happened to sin?
Romans 6:14-15 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
A couple of very simple verses I think to understand. Sin should not rule us. However, just because we are under grace, that does not give us a right to sin. Yet that is how we live our lives. We have reached a point in our society that we will justify our sin. We know that we are in the wrong so we begin to make excuses for what we do. I don’t whatever because whatever. We could just make up a list on anything. Excuses on why we can’t be at church when should, study way we should, pray for one another, the list could go on. Seems like we can make excuses in one accord better than move forward for God in one accord. I’m afraid that even worse is that we don’t see a need to justify because we see nothing wrong with what we do. We are like that rich young ruler in that we don’t think we’ve done anything real wrong so we are ok. We haven’t broken 1 of Ten Commandments so we think we are good. The world, by all rights, places different punishments on different crimes. While this is fair and true, they are still all crimes, and that’s how God looks at sin.
James 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
If I tell what we like to call a little white lie, there might not be any harm in it, but if it’s not true then it’s sin. We can try to justify all we want but it’s still sin. We might see no harm, but we can’t be in fellowship with God if have sin in our lives. If we aren’t in fellowship with God then how can we expect Him to move in our services. I challenge you today to ask yourself if you are taking ALL sin seriously in your life. If we all will then who knows just what God may do in our lives and services to come.
God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
