That’s All That Matters
Matthew 6:8
Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
If you’ve recently gone through this with your kids you will know exactly what I’m talking about. If not then think back to when you were growing up. Remember those times when we didn’t think our parents knew what they were talking about. It’s possible it’s been something recent with you and your own children. You’ve tried to give them advice, but for whatever reason they thought they knew best. It could be stubbornness in either example. Perhaps it’s just an unbelief in the advice you gave and a belief in that they think they know best. Sometimes it could be the belief that if we do things our own way then we think we know what the outcome will be. Whether it is us growing up or our kids we all thought we knew what was best for our lives.
Now think about our text verse. The prior verse tells us not to use vain repetitions in our prayers as the heathen do. We don’t need to ask because it says our Father knows what we have need of. That’s what I want to focus on: "for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of." The Lord knows what we stand in need of. Not only does He know where we are. He also knows our future needs. He knows what’s best for us. Regardless of what we are facing or what we think we know, it’s the Lord that knows the steps we need to take as well as what’s best for our future. I want to encourage you today to trust God. Allow Him to direct your steps.
Proverbs 3:6
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
He knows what’s best so trust Him and allow Him to lead. He knows our future, and knows what we need most. Even when we can’t see Him, He can see us and that’s all that matters!
God bless
