Who You Walk With?

Proverbs 13:20 He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.

We all have different acquaintances in our lives. Some of those we may come across weekly, and some we may encounter on daily basis. However, deeper than just acquaintances today I want us to ponder this question: Who are you walking with? I’ve heard it said before you don’t get to pick your family, but you do pick your friends. How picky are you when it comes to those relationships? Our friends and those we associate with have a huge impact on our lives. If our best friends are lost, don’t go to church, and don’t give any thought to the things of God: How then can we expect to get any type of sound advice from them for our lives. They are going to give advice based on worldly views. I personally have never heard a lost person offer someone advice based on what would be scripturally and or spiritually sound. Unfortunately, the more someone tends to hang out with friends that are wrapped up in the world, the more we can get pulled from the things of God. It doesn’t happen overnight, but over time you’ll get slowly pulled away from the things we know are right. I’m not saying we can’t have friends that are lost!! The best way we can try to point them to salvation is to be a friend. However, we should desire to have friends that bring out the best in us. Those we consider our closest friends should be those that also help point us to the things of Christ. The more time we spend in God’s Word. The more time we spend in prayer. The more time we spend with Him. The more we begin to resemble what a Christian should be. Same thing applies to people in this world. More time we spend around the world the more we will resemble the world. What affect do those you walk with have on you today? Bring out the best in you, or lead you away from Christ?

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
