Apr. 22 Devotion: The Gospel Of Christ

The Gospel of Christ

Galatians 1:6-12

I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: [7] Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. [8] But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. [9] As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. [10] For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. [11] But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. [12] For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

In these verses we see the importance of the gospel. Paul says if someone preaches another gospel let him be accursed. That word means excommunicated or to ban. The preaching of the gospel is so important that Paul said to ban someone who preaches another gospel. He also said there are those who pervert the gospel. That word means to corrupt or to turn. The gospel is defined in 1 Corinthians 15.1.4 as the death, burial & resurrection of the Lord Jesus. In Col.1:5 the gospel is referred to as the word of the truth of the gospel. The gospel is the truth about how a person can know how to get saved and have a personal relationship with Jesus and make heaven your home. In 2 Cor 4:4 the gospel is described as the glorious light, because that's what happens to a person that gets saved. The light of God comes in and the darkness leaves. Preaching the truth about the gospel is so important because everyone wants to earn a home in heaven by works or by baptism or some other means, but God says in Roman's 6:23 the gift of God is eternal life.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

God is waiting to give someone eternal life freely all you have to do is to accept it.

God bless
