Apr 25 Devotion - What is Occupying Your Mind

Ephesians 5:19-20

19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ

      There is something very special about a life lived for God. It is certainly a different path than the one the world travels and its emphasis is on entirely different things. These verses in Ephesians speak of a mindset that has spiritual fellowship at the forefront and an attitude of meditation upon the things of God. There is joy that feeds the soul and a melody of rejoicing in the heart. It is a song of hope and not of gloom. It is a song of thanksgiving knowing that we deserve nothing but realizing God has richly blessed us. We ponder the truth that salvation, deliverance, forgiveness, redemption, reconciliation, and justification are ours to enjoy through Christ.

      The world has no concept of something so wonderful. They are worried about the present and frightened about the future. There is no peace to be found in the answers that the world continues to spew out. There is only a continued downhill slide that leads to destruction. But let us consider this contrast.

Ephesians 2:4-10

4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

So, as you go through this day as a child of God; REJOICE, for God is on the throne, he always keeps his promises, and it will not be long before he comes to take us all home.
