He Still Loves You
Judges 16:28-30 [28] And Samson called unto the Lord, and said, O Lord God, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes. [29] And Samson took hold of the two middle pillars upon which the house stood, and on which it was borne up, of the one with his right hand, and of the other with his left. [30] And Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines. And he bowed himself with all his might; and the house fell upon the lords, and upon all the people that were therein. So the dead which he slew at his death were more than they which he slew in his life.
With these verses we come to the end of Samson’s life. If we was to read the verses before this we’d find how Samson ended up in his current situation. In verse 20 we find what I believe to be one of the saddest statements in the Bible. “And he wist not that the Lord was departed from him.” Samson had ventured so far from God that he failed to realize God wasn’t with him. That in turn allowed the Philistines to capture him and “put out his eyes”, and place him in prison. We may not be living in wicked sin, but have you ever found yourself in the position where you’ve drifted from God? It wasn’t your intent to not be in every service, or to not be studying or praying each day. We can begin to get distracted by our jobs, spouse, kids, hobbies, etc. Over time we begin to allow those things to take a precedence over the things of God. However, no matter where you are God is still willing to listen. He heard Samson’s prayer here!! Sometimes we can feel ashamed or unworthy. While those may be understandable, there is still a God that loves you! There is still a God that will hear your prayer if you’ll go to Him and confess those sins and turn back to Him. Don’t allow the devil to keep you defeated, down, or depressed today! Remember instead there is a God waiting to hear from you and still loves you!!
