Apr.28 Devotion:A Meeting in Heaven

A MEETING IN HEAVEN

Genesis 1:26-27 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

[27] So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

I have always been overwhelmed and fascinated with a few passages in my Bible. Genesis 1:1, John 1:1 and here in our text today Genesis 1:26, 27 and 1 John 5:7. We see in all these passages, there was a beginning of creation, BUT there was NO beginning to the God of the universe! HE just is and has always been, Hallelujah! I want you to imagine for just a moment this meeting that really took place at some point in eternity passed. God turns to the trinity as a whole, and as if making a formal decree states, Let Us make man in Our image”. My Christian friend, that makes me want to shout! When I just try to imagine this scene, there is so much emotion in my soul. There are tears of joy because this Wonderful, Sovereign God who made it all, loves me and died for me and now lives within me! Glory! Then there is pure fire and excitement because I know that this Almighty God gives me power and strength to do ANYTHING IN HIS NAME!

We see in (Gen 1:26) it’s as if God is signaling the significance of a monumental event that is about to take place. HE is about to engrave a truth so prevalent, so undeniably present, that the world and every generation to come upon the face of the earth would see it. This event we see in scripture by the Godhead (the Holy Trinity) would forever change the way God would be seen and known. God wants HIS existence, HIS Son’s existence, and HIS Spirit’s existence to be known, so HE began creation and breathed life into man.

I recently read an illustration of a little girl who was sitting in the waiting room of her father’s law office. As she was waiting for him to finish with the last client of the day she noticed that there hanging on the wall was a plaque that read, “God is nowhere”. You see, this little girls’ father, although a brilliant attorney, was an atheist and he did not believe in God. Out of boredom, the innocent child began copying the words over and over again on a writing tablet she had. Not even thinking about the words she was writing, she copied the phrase with a space in the text. When her father came out to go home he looked down at her writings and began reading these words over and over again: God is now here…God is now here…God is now here! If we could only see our life and the universe just as this little girl did, full of eager faith to see that God is all around us.

HIS presence was here when God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit laid out the universe by speaking it into existence. Today, HIS presence is still all around us. HE is in the song the bird sings, in a baby’s smile, and in the beauty of HIS creation. Have you ever wondered why the earth is round? God could have designed it flat or square and made it work just as perfectly as a round earth. God wanted to encircle HIS children with the reality of HIMSELF. Everywhere, every direction we look we can see God. We see HIM in nature, feel HIM in a song, we talk to HIM in prayer, and know HIS presence when we come into HIS house. My Christian friend, isn’t it good to know that the ONE TRUE and Living God, that YOUR God is everywhere? HE speaks to you in HIS Word, in preaching, and through others that know HIM. Today, would you take time to take a closer look at everything in your life and see HIM, feel HIS presence, and seek to know HIM more?
