April 29 Devotion: God’s Timing

God’s Timing

Ecclesiastes 3:1-9

[1] To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: [2] A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; [3] A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; [4] A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; [5] A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; [6] A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; [7] A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; [8] A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace. [9] What profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he laboureth?

There is a time for all of these things listed! What we can’t do is rush the timing of any of these. God will give us peace when we seek to discover His timing, accept His timing, and even appreciate His timing. There are many times when we have an opportunity for a promotion, a new job, or anything that we perceive as better for our lives. We will rush into decisions when we feel as if it’s best. At times even justifying our actions. Ever hear or even yourself say things like:”God wants what’s best for me”, “More money would mean I could tithe more”, “I’ve worked hard for this so I know God wants me to have it”. These things may all be true, but many people who may have been fully qualified for positions or jobs like these have failed, because it wasn’t God’s timing. There are people that have even set out for all the “right” reasons to do things full time in a ministry for God. Only to fail, because it wasn’t what God wanted in their lives. This IS NOT God failing to provide or meet their needs. It’s a failure on our part to follow God. We can labor all we want and never feel profitable if not done according to God’s plan for our lives. When we trust His timing then He will lead us where we need to be and take care of us in that place.

Are you trying to rush something along today? Instead, just fully trust in God’s timing.

God bless you today!
