April 8 Devotion: I Love Jesus, But…

I Love Jesus, But….

Matthew 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

A simple commandment given. Love God! However, it doesn’t just say to love God. It says to love Him with all our heart, mind, and soul. When we love God the way we should we allow Him to do a work in us and we are not only willing, but excited to do whatever God may ask of us.

When we don’t love Him right, our “buts” come into play.

I love Jesus, but not enough to study to teach a class.

I love Jesus, but not enough to tell my neighbor or co-worker.

I love Jesus, but not enough to invite others to church.

I love Jesus, but not enough to turn my life over to Him.

I love Jesus, but not enough to….

You can fill in the blank on the last one. When saying all those things you are essentially saying I love Jesus, but not enough to have the victorious life that He wants you to have! We have no idea the blessings we miss out on, and the peace of God we give up when we don’t love The Lord the way we should.

John 14:21,23-24

[21] He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. [23] Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. [24] He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me.

If we love Him we will keep His commandments. We will have a desire in our heart to please Him in all things. When we don’t love God the way we should it’s easy to make excuses on why we can’t do certain things. Are you making excuse today for something?

How much do you love Him today?

God bless you today!
