Aug 18 Devotion: The Believer's Highest Honor

24).  Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone; but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.  25).  He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it until life eternal.  26).  If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honor.

                                     JOHN 12;24-26 KJV

God’s Word describes believers as “ambassadors” (SEE 2 Corinthians 5:20), “soldiers” (SEE 2 Timothy 2:3), and “saints” . But perhaps the highest honor we can receive is to be called servants of the Most High God. From the world’s perspective, those who die to self in order to follow the Lord may stand in last place—in reality, however, they are first in His kingdom. (See Matthew 20:16.)

God places us in situations, vocations, and neighborhoods where we can have an impact for Christ. Think about the stay-at-home mom who raises godly children or a bedridden man who prays regularly for his church family. Though neither responsibility involves worldly power or recognition, both serve the Lord, and He is pleased by such faithfulness.

There are no unimportant positions in the kingdom of God. The type of service may change with seasons of life, but we’re always in service for Him. To accomplish His purposes, the Lord uses whatever time, talent, and treasure we have.

Service to the Lord is not about what we do but rather how well we do all that He has given us to accomplish (SEE 1 Peter. 4:10).

A good servant shares both Jesus Christ’s attitude of humility and His motivation to reach people with the love of God.
