Application Of The Scriptures
2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
Hopefully at some point each if us has worried at least a little about our skin and have applied sunscreen when we are going to be out in the sun. If using lotion we will always put some on our hand or on the spot we are covering and then rub it in. If we are putting it on our kids we will especially make sure we apply it correctly. We wouldn’t dare just squirt some on our child’s back and then leave it. Then when they are all sunburnt except one line just say well I tried. Why then would we be that way with the Scriptures? We are told here in our text verse that the Scriptures are given to us by God, and are profitable for all aspects of our lives. Do we apply them as such? We shouldn’t be reading Scripture as we would the instructions on something, and then still just determining that we will do things our own way. Applying the Scriptures to our lives is not going out, living how we want, and then just randomly saying I tried. Proper application will give us a desire to live for the Lord. Yes, we may still fail at times. In those failures though we will learn from them and seek Gods forgiveness, not make light of the situation. Do you apply the Scriptures to your life and desire to live a Christ like life, or just read them like they were the Sunday paper and not all that important?
God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
