Dec. 22 Devotion:More than a Baby

More than a baby

Luke 2:1-7 And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed. [2] ( And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) [3] And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. [4] And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) [5] To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. [6] And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. [7] And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

We all know this passage as The Christmas Story. I want to focus on vs. 7. Mary brought forth much more than her firstborn son. With Jesus came:

-Love like world never seen Jeremiah 31:3 The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying , Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.

-Life we should emulate Romans 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. [2] And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

-Life that brought salvation to us all Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

-Longing to return for us John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

As we are just a few days till Christmas let’s not forget it’s about a lot more than just a baby in a manger!! May God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
