Dec 24 Devotion: Jesus Changed The World

Jesus Changed The World

Luke 2:6-7

[6] And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. [7] And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

Hopefully, you are a student of the Bible, and you know this event didn’t take place in December. However, when it did take place there was still the day before. Think of how many people were unaware of what was about to take place the next day with Jesus being born in a manger. We sit here on Christmas Eve all prepared for tomorrow. We’ve got gifts wrapped, travel plans made or completed, and everything set up to have a successful Christmas Day.

I can’t help but think of some of the stories I’ve heard told of people about to commit suicide, only to have someone call or knock on the door at the right time. People about to give up on something in their life, only to have something unexpected happen, and that need be met.

We aren’t Jesus, and we can’t save anyone from their sins, but we could change their world. Have you ever prayed to that end? Could be a chance meeting with someone, or even someone you know and see everyday. Our Pastor has said many times that you never know the hurt behind the smiles. What if you asked God to show you someone and anything you could do that could change their world. We used to have a gentleman in our church that always had a way of finding that person that was down. He might offer them a word of encouragement or a piece of candy. He might even just take them out to lunch. It doesn’t have to be something extravagant, but just something to show you care. That dear Brother has since gone home to be with The Lord, but it would do the world good to have more people step up and be more like him.

How could you change someone’s world tomorrow or even today?

God bless you today!

Bro. Josh Richardson
