Dec 31 Devotion: Seeking God In The New Year

Seeking God In The New Year

Proverbs 11:27-28

[27] He that diligently seeketh good procureth favour: but he that seeketh mischief, it shall come unto him. [28] He that trusteth in his riches shall fall: but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.

As we come to the end I have 2 questions today I’d like to look at from these verses.

What did you trust in in 2018?

What are you seeking in 2019?

When you think about what vs 28 says in trusting in riches, do you? We have reached a place in society where as long as we have money we think all is ok. If our bills are paid, we have a good job with money coming in, and can save for retirement then we think everything is under control. I seen a viral video this past week of a homeless person who received some money. He went and bought some things he needed, only to then return those things and give the money away to someone who he felt needed it more. Money and riches can only take you so far. It’s more about trusting in what God can do for you, regardless if you have $10 or $10,000 in your bank account.

What are you seeking in 2019? More wealth or fame? More friends or followers? What about more time with God? We should seek to be closer to God in 2019 than ever before. This could be something as simple as just spending 5 extra minutes each day in prayer, in studying, or just simply talking to Him. It could take something simple that could completely transform our lives and help us see 2019 become one of our best years ever personally.

Let’s seek more God in 2019 and see where He leads us!

God bless you today!
