Where’s your Joy?
Psalm 51:12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit. Today we are going to look at that word joy. It is a word that is especially thrown around this time of year. What is joy? Joy is technically defined as a feeling of great pleasure or happiness. So do you have that joy in your heart? Too often we don’t because we lose sight of the acronym that joy has been defined by. That’s what I want us to break down a little more today. J-Jesus first This isn’t coming to church when we think we are supposed to. This is placing Jesus first in every aspect of our lives. Seeking His direction in all our decisions, seeking His will in our lives, seeking His answers to our problems. We shouldn’t make any decisions in our life without consulting with Jesus first!!
Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
O-others second I still believe there is nothing more satisfying to us than to be able to help others. If we abide by the Jesus first part it will give us a servants heart and we would delight in being able to help others.
Philippians 2:3-5 [3] Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. [4] Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. [5] Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
This doesn’t mean just giving money or goods, but maybe just an uplifting word spoken can be a huge help. We used to have a gentleman in our church that would seek God and might take one out to lunch or even just give them a piece of candy and a kind word. Y-Yourself last The end of Matthew 6:33 sums it up best. We do these first two correctly and God will take care of us. It is then that we will have that “joy unspeakable and full of glory.”
May you have that joy in your heart this season!!
