What Can You Teach Others?
Ephesians 4:11-12
[11] And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; [12] For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
Our oneness in Christ in the ministry does not diminish our individuality. While some are called to be pastors or evangelists, there are also teachers used in the ministry. Too often we look at the ministry of the church as confined to what happens inside the walls of the building. Some will look at the different ministries outside of the church, such as a jail ministry or mission work. However, the ministry extends beyond those things and into our everyday lives. We do have a tendency to think that in order to be in the ministry it will require us to stand up in front of people at some point. What can you teach just by the way you live your life? How many mannerisms did we pick up from our parents, or even just people we are around often? People are watching us everyday. What do we teach them.
Secondly, what can we teach people as it relates to our own personal experiences? Ever go through a hardship and begin to wonder why? Only to then get later on in life and see someone else going through the same thing, or something very similar? How much of a help can you then be to that person, and be able to show them some things, because of what God brought you through! Looking for those moments can be a huge help in the ministry. When you look at times you were struggling, did you not get a greater help, or tend to listen more to those who had been through something very similar?
Think about those around you. How could God possibly use you “for the edifying of the body of Christ?”
God bless you today!
