Follow Jesus

Matthew 8:22-27

But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead. [23] And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him. [24] And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep. [25] And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish. [26] And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. [27] But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!

Jesus gave an invitation to follow him, and only his disciples followed him. The world will follow only when they can receive something from him. There are instructions given when you follow Jesus. He said, “Let the dead bury the dead. Let the spiritual dead bury the physical dead.” There will be information given when following Jesus that others will not receive. The average church today invites people to follow without any troubles or problems, but that's not the case that Jesus gives us in dealing with his disciples. All of his disciples faced many troubles and even death because of their faith in the Lord. Following Jesus will be inspirational. You'll learn more about Jesus than those that follow for what they can receive from him. The only people that went away in awe of what Jesus could do were those that weathered the storm. They went away seeing the mighty move of the hand of God. What a great God we serve!
