Seriousness or Silliness

Acts 5:1-5 [1] But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession, [2] And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it , and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles’ feet. [3] But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? [4] Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God. [5] And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.

In the past few days we have heard of numerous reports of children being arrested due to making threats toward those in authority. Most don’t think about the ramifications of their actions. There is a price to pay when you don’t follow the rules. But, where are they learning that this is ok? How many will have parents stand up for their children claiming that they are too young to know better. They are just kids being silly kids. What about us as Christians? How serious are we taking things today?

2 Timothy 3:1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

We are living in these last days, but how serious are we about these things. Just silly preaching you think? Just like children we just live our lives like there are no repercussions for how we live. Youth today have no respect for authority and we show no respect towards God. We don’t listen to preaching, don’t obey His Word, and refuse to do His will. We have people watching our every move and the devil doing all that he can to trip us up and render us useless for God, and too often we allow the devil to be successful because we don’t respect God’s teachings.

1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

I know we will all say we believe the end times are upon us, but how serious do we really take them? Ananias, as well as Sapphira here didn’t realize just how serious they needed to take things. They didn’t think ahead about the ramifications of not obeying God. How many members of our families, or our friends and co-workers will wake up in hell because we didn’t take things serious enough?

May God bless you today. Bro. Josh Richardson
