Are You An Answered Prayer?
Caitlyn, my oldest daughter, recently came in contact with a young lady who will be attending the same college as her this upcoming fall. This girl lives only about an hour from us, and even though they both had played golf in some of same tournaments they had never met. They now will be heading to college three hours away having at least one person that they know, as well as sharing the same values and principles. This past weekend it worked out for us to meet her as well as her parents. One of the first thing her mom said to Caitlyn was that she was an answered prayer. They were praying for someone that their daughter could get to know before she went away to college. Someone she could possibly room with, and someone to go to church with. Have you ever been told you were an answered prayer? Think of this following passage of Scripture:
John 5:1-7 [1] After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. [2] Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches. [3] In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water. [4] For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had. [5] And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years. [6] When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole? [7] The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.
How many people had stepped over this man as it mentions in vs 7? Hundreds, maybe even thousands? Each person was so focused on their own issues that they failed to acknowledge how they could be of a help to this impotent man. How often are we so focused on our daily lives that we fail to take time to look around and see how God could use us? What if that person you get your daily coffee from has been questioning if God is real, yet you won’t give out a tract cause it makes you uncomfortable? Ever have an co-worker that is having a real rough patch in their life and could really use someone to just talk to. You could have lunch with them, but don’t cause you prefer to spend your lunchtime alone. Maybe you encounter a person that you can visibly tell they are upset. What if all they need is a hug and to know that Jesus loves them? Could you be someone’s answered prayer today, or are you too focused on self to take notice of how God could use you?
God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
