Conformity

Romans 1:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

This past week there were some penalties issued in Major League Baseball. A few months ago it came out that the Houston Astros were stealing signs electronically. This was deemed to be against the rules. Sign stealing has been part of baseball for years, but was acceptable if done by a runner on the base paths. Houston was doing it using video and then relaying the next pitches to batters at the plate. What has amazed me this week is how many people I’ve heard explain it away as either they just found a better way, or that all teams are probably doing it so why does it matter. Unfortunately, this is the attitude that has crept into our world today. People trying to explain things away so to speak. People who will try to reason or explain away their sin. More often than not sin doesn’t just take a hold of our lives all at once. It’s small steps, giving in to little things, and then before you know it, it has a stronghold in your life. This is what takes place when we conform to the world. We allow the world to have an influence on us instead of us influencing the world.

We must be willing to stand firm on the Word of God! Not allow ourselves to try to explain away things that go against what is taught and revealed in Scripture.

Are you confirming today or can others look at you and know you stand firmly on The Word?

God bless you today!
