Jan 18 Devotion: It’s One Thing To Ask, But Do You Follow?

It’s One Thing To Ask, But Do You Follow?

Acts 22:10-11

[10] And I said, What shall I do, Lord? And the Lord said unto me, Arise, and go into Damascus; and there it shall be told thee of all things which are appointed for thee to do. [11] And when I could not see for the glory of that light, being led by the hand of them that were with me, I came into Damascus.

Have you ever asked that question? “What shall I do, Lord?” If not, I suggest that’s where you start today. It should be the desire of every Christian to know the will of God for their lives.

If you have asked, then what has been your next step? It’s possible you are in that waiting mode, and if that’s the case then may I suggest you continue to wait in the Lord.

Psalm 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

You can’t succeed going thru any door you open yourself.

The scary part can be if that answer has come, because it might not be the answer you wanted. It might not be then answer our spouse, or those around us want it to be. Think about Saul here. Imagine what is going thru his mind when he’s told what to do, because he then has to be led, because he can’t see at that time. God could call you to preach or lead you to a different place you’ve never been. It could be that God wants you to share your talent to sing in the church or be a Sunday School teacher. There are so many things God could use each of us for. The question is will you do it? I once signed a blank piece of paper and placed it in a tote at our church that we were praying over. The point of that paper was for God to fill in and for me to just follow. It’s easy to place the paper in there, but what happens when God starts to fill out that paper? It can be some scary answers, but just as the people with Saul led him, God will lead us if we let Him. I’ve heard it said that God’s will won’t lead us where His grace can’t keep us. We will be way more successful by going thru that door that God opens than standing outside of it.

Are you following His will today?

God bless you today!
