Jan 4 Devotion: He’s Always There

He’s Always There

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

You ever had a job and your boss give you something to do, but no explanation on how to do something. It could’ve been something they’ve done multiple times, and easy to figure out in their mind. You then complete the task only to find out it wasn’t done the way they had wanted. It can be frustrating, but really nothing you can do when they are the boss. Aren’t you glad God don’t leave us out on an island? Here in Jeremiah we find his letter to those carried away captive to Babylon. If we can be encouraged by an eloquent speaker, why not God? God knew where His people were, knew what He had in store for them, and knew how they’d get through. We can find in the verses before our text verse His instructions to them to build houses, etc. Make the most of where they are. Then in our text verse we see where He tells about His thoughts toward them. Thoughts of peace, not evil. If we allow God to instruct and lead us we have the boundless hope of our future with Him. This doesn’t mean we won’t face hardships or go through sufferings, but it does show us that we have someone who is in control. A God that blesses us, will protect us, lead us, and get us to the glorious conclusion that we look to one day! No matter your situation today, He is still on the throne so just trust God!

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
