Following their Pernicious Ways

2 Peter 2:2

And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.

The word pernicious means damnable or destruction. This is a sign of the end times. People knowing that what they believe is not according to the Bible or what God says. In the days past people trusted in rules and religion, but now they trust in their good works and the fact they've been baptized. It makes sense to me that a person would be more interested in the future of their eternal life and would seek for the truth about obtaining a home in heaven, but they will trust in anything that comes down the pike. We are seeing a salvation that never makes any changes in your life. Salvation will not only change your destination, but it will change your life style. In our text the Bible states that they even deny the Lord Jesus who bought them. It’s amazing how you can talk about any God, but when you mention the name of Jesus you are offending everyone around you. There is still only one way to heaven and that's through the blood of the Lord Jesus.
