Things that were Precious

1 Peter 1:7

That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

To Peter, the definition of precious is costly or of great value, much esteemed. Peter used the word precious several times. He said that the trial of your faith is more precious than gold. We would agree that faith is valuable, but not so much on the trial that comes and causes our faith to be strengthened. The blood of Jesus was precious to Peter. Without the shedding of blood, of the blood of the Lord Jesus, there is no remission of sin. The church world doesn’t like the blood. That's why they preach the gospel of works or water baptism. Without the blood of the Lord Jesus, we're lost sinners on our way to hell. Jesus himself is precious to Peter because he is the chief corner stone. He is the main structure of Christianity. There is no foundation for the church. Faith itself was precious to Peter. Without faith, it is impossible to please God. The promises of God were precious. His word describes them as great and precious, and God has given us many promises.
