July 7 Devotion: The Heart

The Heart

Mark 7:6

He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.

In the Bible, when it talks about the heart it's not talking about the muscle that's in your chest. It’s talking about your most affections and what is really the most important thing to you. We're living in the days where everybody claims to be a Christian, but their lifestyle doesn't line up to the Bible. We are told by the world to follow your heart. The Bible states that the heart is deceitful and wicked. If the relationship that you have with Jesus won’t make you faithful to his church i don't know if I would trust that relationship to get me to heaven. The Bible states that out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. The great thing about the Lord is that he is merciful and he will give you opportunity to get our heart right with him. He said if you will draw nigh to me I will draw nigh to you. In Psalms God's word says my heart is fixed.
