Jun 27 Devotion: The Way People Talk About God’s Work

The Way People Talk About God’s Work

Nehemiah 4:10,11,14 –

10 And Judah said, The strength of the bearers of burdens is decayed, and there is much rubbish; so that we are not able to build the wall. 11 And our adversaries said, They shall not know, neither see, till we come in the midst among them, and slay them, and cause the work to cease. 14 And I looked, and rose up, and said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, Be not ye afraid of them: remember the Lord, which is great and terrible, and fight for your brethren, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses.

In the first chapter we see the news of the condition of Jerusalem. Also we see the prayer that was made. In chapter 2 we see the volunteering to go work and the viewing of the he walks. In chapter 3 we see the workers in unity building. In chapter 4 we see the ridicule, anger and discouragement. Notice 3 verses in chapter 4.

  1. Verse 10 – And Judah said – The voice of doubt – “We can’t

The weariness of the men, the massiveness of the task

  1. Verse 11 – Our adversaries said – The voice of disturbance – “You

Won’t”- the opposition from without

. 3. Verse 14 – And I said – The voice of desire – “God Shall”

The inspiration of faith, the intercession of prayer, the instruction

Of the workers.

In closing – So some said “We can’t”, some said, “You won’t”, but some said, “God Shall”.

Which voice do you have toward the work of God?
