June 8 Devotion:Where Are Your Thoughts?

Where Are Your Thoughts?

Philippians 4:8

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

If you have kids, have you ever told them to clean their room or something only to find later that they just rearranged things and hid stuff in a drawer or under a bed. Once we find out we become angry and will usually yell at them, ground them, or just get mad. At those moments we have forgotten those things that they have done that has made us proud of them.

Now how about our relationship with Christ? Do we become increasingly frustrated on those days that we fail Him? Do we find ourselves thinking that we aren’t worthy or that we can’t be used? The devil don’t want us out there trying to do things for God and will place thoughts in our head to keep us from doing a work for God. However, we must remember that just like we still love our kids, God still loves us!! He doesn’t walk around waiting for us to mess up and then smack us upside the head. We should always strive to do right, but remember that we are still human and will mess up at times. I’m not saying we should say look at me and how great I am, but we also shouldn’t stay down or depressed when we do things wrong. God is there for us always and we should always keep that in mind and think on those things.

Purpose in your heart today that you won’t beat yourself up if you fail Him, but instead allow Him to lift you up and be used in a way you didn’t even think about!

God bless you today!
