Mar.10 Devotion:Prevailing in Prayer

Prevailing in Prayer

Luke 18:1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;

1 Peter 3:12 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.

Jeremiah 9:1 Oh that my head were waters, and mine eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!

Many who may be reading this devotion know that we are coming up on revival in our church. We have been fasting and praying and seeking the Lord; seeking the Lord to transform us, save the lost, and manifest HIS great power in our church and community. If we are going to see a move of God and revival fire from Heaven, it will come through consecration and the prevailing, agonizing prayer of God’s people. The child of God who has learned the secret of prevailing prayer will be the most powerful force upon the earth. There will be no shadow of turning, for their faith is strong and unchanging even when the world around them falls apart. Show me a Christian whose knees bear the imprint of the altar and I’ll show you someone whose feet will stand in the face of death; unshakable, immovable, and full of great joy. The one that is given to prayer is secure in God because their heart hopes in HIM, and in HIM they are at complete rest. The chamber of prayer is the solace from the raging storms of life where Christians robe themselves with the presence of the Almighty. In quiet prayer and conversation with the Lord refuge is found beneath HIS wings of love and grace.

Today we have an urgent need for revival and we can wait no longer. We must pray with urgency and with a burden to see God’s power on the church. Dear Christian friend, I believe this will start in prayer and by falling in love again with Jesus! Do you have a longing each day to be with HIM, just to sit at HIS feet and be in HIS presence? Prayer and knowing the nearness of God will change us and is ALL WE NEED! Being in God’s presence will give us stability because HE is our rock, our strong tower, our shelter, our joy and HE is our very life. When our walk becomes intimate with Jesus, there is nothing you can’t share with HIM. We long to tell HIM every detail of our day and we ask Him to search our heart to the very depths leaving nothing hidden from HIS view. Jesus becomes EVERYTHING and nothing else matters but to be with HIM, enjoying HIM forever. It is here in this private place that REVIVAL takes place and we are poured out, surrendered and submitted to the hand of God, will of God and anything HE wants us to do. Here in this personal place of reviving we can begin to intercede for our church, our lost loved ones, our community and the world we live in. God’s people and HIS Kingdom need a fresh touch, a breath from heaven, one in which this generation has never known.

Do you believe there is power in prayer? I believe that prayer is a mighty force that moves the heart of God! Prayer is a wonderful privilege given to every child of God. Oh that we would strive to become prayer warriors determined to see the mighty power of God change our churches, our nation, and deliver us from our wickedness. Oh that the Lord would raise up prayer warriors that hell cannot contend with. Lord raise up Christians that demons know of and tremble; ones that pray and shake the very foundations of the kingdom of darkness.

My Christian friend, look around you today…where is this Christian that is given to prayer in such a way? Is this Christian you? I know where I stand and admittedly had to ask my Lord for forgiveness before I could type these words. Can you measure your dependency upon God by your time spent in prayer to HIM? How would you measure up today? Let me share with you the mighty prayer of Leonard Raven Hill, may it become your prayer as it has mine!

“Lord, I tearfully ask:

Teach me to pray with groaning so that there are earthquakes in hell.

Teach me the groaning of the Spirit until angels stand in awe

Teach me Spirit-born intercession that changes history.

Teach me the birth pangs of the Holy Ghost until hell-shaking revival is born.

Lead me into travail that will hold back divine judgment from the nations for a little season.

Let me be a living sacrifice on the altar of prayer, bleeding to bless, until flood tides of mercy sweep the nations.

Lord, break my heart in intercession until my eyes, like those of Jeremiah are a fountain of tears, weeping for the slain of an educated, but spiritually dead people.”

Oh, that we would learn to pray so as to be known and feared in hell. May revival start in you today!
