Mar. 11 Devotion: Routine

Routine

Psalm 122:1 I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord.

I’ve been thinking a lot about our upcoming revival meeting. I think back to a lot of the meetings we’ve had before. How many times have we arrived at church and you can just sense an excitement in the air. You’ll see an excited crowd, an early crowd, and a crowd with expectations. However, what do we see on a normal Sunday? Unfortunately, it seems like a lot of times we have a regular crowd that’s restless and going through a routine. When you look at our text verse it doesn’t say I was glad because it was a special occasion. Are we glad to get to go to the house of the Lord each time we get to go? Do we show up with the same excitement and expectations on a “normal” Sunday or Wednesday that we do on a night of revival. Some of the best meetings I’ve seen weren’t planned. People showed up excited to be at church, and with expectations of seeing God do something wonderful. That then led to God moving in and doing something out of the ordinary. What if we didn’t just show up Sunday. What if we showed up expecting to see God do something incredible, and excited at the opportunity to be there to witness it. We get to go to the house of the Lord on this Lord’s day. Does that make you glad? Does it make you feel anything at all?

God bless you today? Bro. Josh Richardson
