2 Peter 1:12 - “ Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.”
The apostle Peter, knowing that his time in the life was nearing an end, wrote this verse to proclaim his heart’s desire and his ambition as he neared the conclusion of his ministry.
Above all else, it was Peter’s burden put everyone in remembrance of Christ’s death, resurrection, and Teachings. It was so important to the apostle that he felt it would be negligent (or would cause harm to others) if he did not constantly remind others of what they had already heard.
It mattered not to Peter how many times others had heard, he would still remind them. Regardless of their progress is spiritual matters, he reminded them. Even when they could recite from memory what Peter was about to say, he said it anyway.
I think it is safe to say that Peter became a living reminder of Christianity to all those that cross his path. He was too burdened to be negligent. He was ever a monument of Christ’s love, forgiveness, and commission.
I wonder what Florence, Ky would look like in a year if ever me ever of the church purposed to be a living reminder to those around them. Ever proclaiming the joyous news of the gospel. Ever encouraging others to set aside wood, hay and stubble and to pursue treasure in the Kingdom of Heaven. Ever a mouthpiece for others to hear what God has done for a lost and dying world.
