What’s Your Perception Of You?
Genesis 1:26-31
[26] And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. [27] So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. [28] And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. [29] And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. [30] And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so. [31] And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
Last week God gave me a thought in this spot about your perception of Him. Today, I ask what is your perception of yourself? The Bible warns us about thinking too highly of ourselves.
Romans 12:3a For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think;
We can also think about the Pharisee who stood and prayed and thought himself better than the publican because of all his “works.” I’m sure we all know people like this and I’ll pray for you in hopes that you aren’t one of those.
Then we have people that are their own toughest critic, and take it too an extreme. Those that get down on themselves all too often.
Yes we fail God on a daily basis, but the rest of Romans 12:3 tells us we can overcome:
Romans 12:3b but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
We must find that balance in our lives! Our Pastor has said many times about knowing our strengths and our weaknesses and abiding therein. Do you realize God created you in his OWN image. Not just that, but The Bible also tells us we are “fearfully and wonderfully made.” God created each one of us with our own uniques strengths and abilities. We are different from the rest of creation in that He has given us unique responsibilities and abilities above everything else in creation.
Don’t allow this world or anything else get you down on yourself, because God created you with a purpose and that should excite us and help us to stay on a more even path and not live such a roller coaster life.
God bless you today!
