Mar 20 Devotion: The Future Foretold

Revelation 21:3-5

3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

This is describing what the future will be like for those who have trusted Christ as their Savior. It is such a contrast from the world we live in now. It sounds wonderful and it certainly will not disappoint. At the end of life’s journey, it will be worth it all. Every trial and every sorrow will have passed away. It will be left behind and replaced with the promised blessings that God will bring to fruition. Our place has been secured by the wonderful love and marvelous grace of our Lord. The splendor is unmatched by anything we have seen and the duration of our time there will be everlasting. There will be no sin allowed in that place and there will be a unity of fellowship like nothing we have experienced before. Do you know Jesus Christ as your Savior? If so, these verses describe your future.

There’ll be no sorrow there

No more burdens to bear

No more sickness, no pain

No more parting over there

And forever I will be

With the one who died for me

What a day glorious day that will be

Psalm 23:6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
