How Do You Use The Bible?
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
This may be harder for some of us, but think back to when you were in school and had a test coming up. Did you ever take a test, not get the grade you was hoping for, and then still claimed that you truly studied. You looked over your notes, or maybe scanned over a chapter you was supposed to read, and then called that studying. Knowing good and well deep down that you did not devote the time necessary to truly get a good grade on the test. It might not have been a failing grade, but you know you still could’ve done better. Had we put the time into focusing on the material before the test was even announced we would’ve been better prepared.
Do we now use the Bible the same way? We are faced with something in our life and we say, “I’ve been reading my Bible.” We May have been reading it, but have we been studying it and allowing it to prepare us for an upcoming test in our life that we aren’t aware yet is even coming. Do you know where you’d turn if you were feeling down? What if life had you feeling defeated? Ever have a feeling like you’re alone? All these have answers and we can find help in God’s Word! When we’ve put the time into studying we know just where to go. When we haven’t, those are times when we might go through something even longer because we then have to spend time searching for answers.
The Bible isn’t intended to be a “use in case of an emergency.” It’s intended to be a Book we use as an instruction manual for direction in our lives! How do you use it?
God bless you today!
