Mar. 9 Devotion: A Place by the Lord

A Place by the Lord

Exodus 33:18-23

And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory. [19] And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy. [20] And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live. [21] And the LORD said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock: [22] And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by: [23] And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.

Moses had a desire to see the glory of God. He even requested that he could see God's glory. That's something that every child of God should desire in his own life. The only problem that we're having is that we are too close to everything else. To see God's glory, you'll have to get closer to God than everything else. Moses told God that wherever he goes, that's where Moses would go. To see the glory of God, you must be standing on the foundation rock of Jesus. We, in our own merit, don't deserve to be able to call on the name of the Lord. When God walked by, Moses stood up. That's a position of reverence and respect. We have lost the reverence for the things of God. They're not special to us anymore. What a privilege to be in the presence of God.

May God bless you,
