Mar 9 Devotion: Is He Real?

Is He Real?

John 20:25-28 [25] The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe. [26] And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. [27] Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. [28] And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.

Have you ever “talked” about going on a diet, then get on scale one day, and then realize you “talked” about it long enough? You finally hit that number that it became real to you that you need to lose weight. Maybe you’ve had something else in your life where that proverbial light bulb had gone off, and things all of a sudden became real. What about God? I’m not asking if you believe in Him. I’m asking how REAL is He in your life? Think about our portion of scripture today. We like to call him doubting Thomas because of vs 25. However, we could ask how often we doubt God, but I digress. Instead I want to look at vs 28. How real did it become to Thomas after his conversation with the Lord in vs 27? Thomas realized then it was the Lord!! It all became real to him. So how real is He to you? How real is His love to you? Have you ever been broken when thinking about the fact that He gave His only begotten son because of His love for you? How real is His presence to you? Many Christians seem to constantly have a rollercoaster of emotions in their lives all due to the lack of Gods presence in their lives. Our apathy towards God has led us down a path where the things of God are just not real to us anymore. That in turn has led to a lost world, staying lost, because they look at us and don’t see God manifested in our lives! I challenge you today to seek God and realize how real He can be in our lives. Realize the effect we can have on others when He becomes real to us!

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
