HIS WAYS
Isaiah 55:6-9 Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
[7] Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
[8] For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.
[9] For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
After having a conversation with a brother in Christ about the mysterious workings of God in our lives, the Lord lead me here to this passage of scripture. The moving of God in the lives of HIS children don’t always make sense, add up or even seem possibly right to us at times. Here we see the Word of God assures us of this wonderful promise…that HIS thoughts and HIS WAYS are not ours. Now we can shout and praise the Lord for that wonderful truth! I am thankful that the universe is not operated by man or human understanding making decisions susceptible to human emotion or favor. We should ever be thankful that God’s infinite wisdom is in complete control at all times.
My friend, we can NOT fit Almighty God into a certain mold or pattern as to try and understand HIS ways or plans in accomplishing something in our lives. Think about this…Noah was instructed to build a huge boat because God said it was going to rain so greatly upon the earth that every living thing would be destroyed. Up to that point, there had never been a drop of rain fall from the sky. God usually doesn’t make sense to us when HE goes to work in our lives or our church or a ministry that HE has called us to. Most of the time I haven’t the slightest notion of what HE is up to in my life but that’s okay. God does NOT have to have my permission, neither does HE have to let me in on HIS working in my life or the life of others.
Moses was told to go to the most powerful ruling force of the known world and demand that they release their slaves to go free with only a staff in his hand. Israel was instructed to march around the most fortified city of that day and they would see the walls fall without ever touching them. Time and time again God has asked his people and children to do seemingly the most absurd things (in the eyes of man), and HE has used the most shocking methods, BUT HE never ceases to amaze those who are privileged to witness it. Hallelujah! God sent Jonah into the belly of a great fish and then instructed that fish to take him where HE wanted him because Jonah refused to go on his own. That may seem strange or even extreme or insane to most people, BUT that was the hand of God at work accomplishing HIS will!
Over and over again we see the working of God in the lives of HIS people accomplished using the most unorthodox methods and leaving mankind scratching their heads. GOD WILL NEVER DO THINGS OUR WAY, because HIS WAYS are just better and they are PERFECT! Glory! The farther away from God our world and our society become, the less open-minded we are to the methods and ways of God. It seems as though, unless we can explain, control or manipulate the so called “workings” of God, we shy away from it or run in fear. We want control of every aspect of our life instead of just letting God go to work and do it HIS WAY. Today, would you yield your life, your dreams and plans and all that you are to HIM and just let God have HIS WAY???
