May 15 Devotion:Healing For Those Who Are Hurting

HEALING FOR THOSE WHO ARE HURTING

Isaiah 53:4-6 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

[5] But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

[6] All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

If we look around our world today, how many people all around us are hurting? They are lost in their sin, walking and living in darkness. The Word of God tells us in (2 Cor 4:4), “In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” The god of this world (satan) is hard at work keeping sinners bound and blinded by their sin. The devil is also at war with the Christian; at war with our flesh to try and lead us astray from the Lord. To the one who is lost in their sin, they will never find healing, forgiveness and peace with God, unless the light of the Gospel shines unto them and they finally see and believe. For the Christian, we will never have true joy, peace, and healing when we live and wallow in sin. There will be no peace within when we are losing the war with the devil on a daily basis. When we are not walking in the Spirit and living in the forgiveness that Jesus gave us when we were born again by HIS Spirit, there will be no peace. Paul said, in (Gal 2:20), “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live;” The cross is a picture of death. You put something on a cross that it may die there. Just as Paul had to crucify his flesh that Christ could live and be seen in him and ON HIM, we must learn to DIE daily to our sin; that all the fruits of the Spirit may be seen by those who are hurting and living in darkness.

With every wound inflicted upon our Lord and Savior on the cross, there was healing provided for all who would reach out and lay hold of it by faith! Hallelujah! Every stripe the body of Jesus bore opened up a fountain of healing waters for every soul thirsting to be redeemed, renewed, restored, rejuvenated, and released from all the hurt and pain that is caused by sin. My friend, there is HOPE extended to every heart and soul that has been broken by sin and it’s curse. There is true JOY and healing extended to the one who places their faith in Jesus Christ and HIS cross! There is also a fullness, wholeness, renewed strength, and life passed to all when we are drawn by HIS Spirit and place our life in the hands of the Lord. When we yield ourselves to the will of God by surrendering all of our rights and submitting to HIS hand, it is then we can receive peace from God.

Too often, the things that we refuse to release to God become the chains that imprison us with the memory and hurt from a sinful past. Christian friend, no one can surrender for you. Peace and healing are only possible through a choice we make for ourselves.  Paul said, in (Heb 3:5), “Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;” Have you surrendered everything? God doesn’t just want YOUR SIN, HE wants YOU and your very life in whole.  Only when complete surrender is present, can God flood our lives with HIS peace, presence and the healing balm of HIS power. Today, what do you need to let go of in order to have peace and gain healing?  Please do not miss God’s blessing and HIS best for your life. There is freedom and a life full of joy and blessing HE wants to bestow upon you. If you are hurting and need healing today, will you choose life and allow Jesus Christ to forgive you and set you free???

“and with his stripes we are healed.”
