I’m Not Ashamed

Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

We all have things that have taken place in our lives that we are ashamed of. It doesn’t always have to be something that is sinful or wicked. It could be something that we’ve forgotten to do, but ashamed to admit. However, one thing we should never be ashamed of is being a Christian. I’d venture to guess we’ve all been in a crowd of people before that we were afraid they’d look at us differently upon finding out we go to church, especially a Baptist church. Ever been in the situation where your actions might show you are a Christian, but you’re not about to say it out loud for fear of what others may say or think? Paul wasn’t ashamed, regardless of the crowd he was around. Paul knew he had the truth so he wasn’t going to be ashamed. We have the truth, so why should we ever be ashamed? What does it take for us to not be ashamed? It’s all about our focus. Paul’s focus was on the truth of the Gospel. We are ashamed when our focus is on others and their feelings about the truth, or their response to us in sharing the truth. We get too caught up into worrying about what they might say about us, or if they’ll still be our friend. In doing this we are placing God, and all He’s done for us way down our priority list. If you would instead focus more on how God has transformed your life, you won’t be ashamed of sharing the Gospel. All of a sudden you won’t be as concerned about what others say or think, but instead will be more concerned with just what God has done in your life. You don’t have to go out and be snobbish about it. Instead, we should go out each day proud to be a Christian, proud to show what God has done in our lives, and count it a privilege to share the Gospel of Christ with others!!

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
