A Love Like Jesus
1 Corinthians 13:13
And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
As a parent, you’ll always have people accusing you of having favorites. It’s possible you might have one you like or get along better with. However, you still love them all the same. Think also a little about those people you call friends. I’d say there are different levels of friendships you have. Some you might text or talk to on occasion, but you still consider them a friend. Others, you might enjoy hanging out with them each chance you get. Do we love them the same though?
What about those we don’t hang out with or even consider them friends? Those everyday acquaintances. Those that you might even only have a chance encounter with? What kind of love do you have for them? We are instructed to love one another. Our text verse even talks about how great love is. Love can be looked at as the greatest human qualities you could have if you love properly. Love is the very essence of God himself:
1 John 4:8
He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
I’m afraid we get things confused and think that if we love one another, that we are supporting their sin if they are in the world so to speak. That is not the case at all. However, we should have a Christ-like love for them to share the Gospel with them if they are lost. Love them enough to support them in times of need. Love them enough to lift them up when they are done. Unfortunately, we fail to show that love at times. We might be too judgmental or just choose not to put ourselves out there and show the love of Christ to others. Whatever the reasoning, I feel we fall short of loving others how God wants us to love them. I heard this statement the other day, and it really made me think about our attitude towards others and how we love others. Jesus loved in such a way that nobody knew it was Judas. Do you show a Christ-like love to others?
God bless,
Bro. Josh Richardson
