May 27 Devotion: Thorns and Thistles

Thorns and Thistles

Genesis 3:18

Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;

Thorns and thistles are a picture of sin. They didn't appear until after the fall of Adam. Thorns and thistles don't know to be planted, they come up naturally.

They are powerful just like sin.

They grow everywhere. They can even grow through concrete.

They are plentiful everywhere you look just like sin they're everywhere.

They are personal. Everyone in the world has to deal with them in their own life.

They are persistent. No matter how much weed killer you spray on them they will keep coming back and it's a daily job to keep them from over taking your home.

They are permanent. They were here when I got here and they'll be here when I'm gone.

The Bible says in sin did my mother conceive me. It’s hard to look at a little baby and think it's a sinner. The truth is you have to train a child to do the right thing.

God bless
