Are We Holding On?
Matthew 6:19-21
Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: [20] But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: [21] For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Bro. Ron mentioned a conversation we were having before service on Wednesday night about the Lord coming back. He talked about how much better the service would be in heaven! That led me down to a different thought. Let me first say we don’t know when Jesus is calling us out of here nor do we have any control over that. However, I do wonder if we’ve not been taken out of here because we are just holding onto too many things here in this world. We are more worried about our earthly treasures than what He has waiting for us in Glory! Think for a moment about that person in your life that if you didn’t get to see them for the next week you’d miss them tremendously. You couldn’t wait to be able to see them again and you’d drop everything to go see them. We’ve never physically seen Jesus, but do we have that same longing to see Him? Too often we talk about wanting to see the Lord call us out of here because we are tired of the craziness. Where are our stakes drove in a little too deep in this world that we tend to enjoy that more than we want to see Him return? Is there anything in this world you’re holding onto a little more tightly than your longing for heaven?
God bless
