Will Your House Stand?

Matthew 7:24-27

Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: [25] And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. [26] And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: [27] And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

Jesus is comparing two houses and two builders. Both men built a house, but the wise man built his house upon a rock foundation. A house will only be as strong as the foundation  that it's built upon. The winds and the flood are the judgment that came upon the two houses. I'm sure that both houses looked nice. Only time will tell if your house will stand. Judgment didn't come immediately on these houses. The Bible says that it's once appointed to man to die and after this is the judgment. I heard a preacher say that it's the after this that concerned him. Living and dying come naturally, but after this is the judgment of God and that's where things get difficult. Imagine standing before an all-knowing God and he has a record of all our deeds. That's a little scary standing before God and having to give an account for your every action. Build your house upon the rock of Jesus Christ.
