Nov. 20 Devotion:Spitting on God

Spitting in Gods face

Mark 10:33-34 [33] Saying , Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests, and unto the scribes; and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles: [34] And they shall mock him, and shall scourge him, and shall spit upon him, and shall kill him: and the third day he shall rise again. Mark 14:65 And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say unto him, Prophesy: and the servants did strike him with the palms of their hands. We see here in Mark 10 Jesus telling what is about to happen. Then in chapter 14 we see these things take place. The one I want to focus on is the spitting on Him. We look at that and say how terrible for them to spit in our Saviours face! Such a sign of disrespect! Yet we do that very thing on a daily basis. How? -defying His word(we don’t do what His Word instructs) -denying His plan for our life

-desiring worldly things over eternal things

-disdain for preaching( if we enjoy it then why to often do we ignore message it contains)

-decide we know best(Bible says this best:Proverbs 21:2 Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the Lord pondereth the hearts.)

We all too often look down on the lost in their treatment of our Lord, but we too often don’t treat Him the way we should. I pray today that you will examine yourself and ask God to show you ways you may spit in His face in how you live your life. Bro. Josh Richardson
