Nov. 27 Devotion: What Do Others See?

What do others see?

John 13:34-35 [34] A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. [35] By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

I really want to focus on vs. 35 today. While in jail services on Sunday I had a young man approach me after preaching and begin to tell me about how the preaching had really humbled him. He talked a little about what he had been taught to believe growing up and that he wanted something better for his wife and children. Then he asked if he was to come to our church if he would be accepted? I told him absolutely!! After I left and thought more about it, it really began to break my heart cause he didn’t ask that for no reason. How many so called Christians aren’t accepting? I’m not saying accept sin, but do we accept people. This world is full of people looking to condemn others and that are accepting only if everything they do lines up with our beliefs. We will pass judgement based on looks, wealth, sports teams, and many other nonsense things. Verse 35 tells us that men will know us by our love one to another. Do we show that love and compassion? If we are going to call ourselves Christians then we are to be Christ-like. To all those Christ came in contact with He showed love and compassion. He would show them the truth. He would be THE LIGHT in their dark world. What do you show? Do we show that same love and compassion, do we share the truth, and do we point them to the Light? God help us to be true Christians to a lost and dying world and not hypocritical Christians that passes judgement and lead them to hell! Bro. Josh Richardson
