DIVINE MATH

Matthew 14:15-21 And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals.

[16] But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat.

[17] And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes.

[18] He said, Bring them hither to me.

[19] And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

[20] And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.

[21] And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children.

1 Kings 17:13-16 And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.

[14] For thus saith the Lord God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the Lord sendeth rain upon the earth.

[15] And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days.

[16] And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the Lord, which he spakeby Elijah.

In our two passages of Scripture today, the Lord has given us two examples of what happens when HE gets involved in our daily lives. We see here in Matthew that Jesus had been preaching to the multitude, five thousand men beside women and children. There could have been 10 to 20 thousand or more people that we see our Lord was preaching to. They ran out of bread and they began to get hungry, they were probably weak and about to fall over, and Jesus tells the disciples to feed them. They realized they only had five loaves and two fishes. They came to the conclusion they did NOT HAVE ENOUGH of what it would take to feed this great number of people. They probably started putting together their pennies and money together and obviously in a logical and mathematical sense, they surely did NOT have what it would take to get the job done. This is where the DIVINE MATH stepped in and took over!  Hallelujah!!!

If you are like me…at some point you have looked around at a situation maybe in your finances or bills and logically and mathematically, it did NOT add up or make sense? You realized with logic, you did NOT have enough? Maybe you have a health concern and the physician says there is NO way or chance, or your odds do not look good? Many of us have been there or one day we are headed to a place of doubt or decision, and all we can do is trust the Lord that HE will make a way. Jesus in our text was going to give these people SOMETHING to help them go on and give them strength…that is what Jesus always does! No matter what mathematical equation you put on these two examples in our text, five loaves and two fishes will NEVER feed this great crowd. BUT, when God breathed on this situation, they found out Jesus was enough! When you start putting faith in the Lord Jesus, and HE places DIVINE MATHon any situation in your life, it will work every time! Jesus can take what little bit you do have and breath on it and feed you, strengthen you and others and make it go farther then you could ever imagine. When Jesus stepped in here in the scripture, you have subtraction without diminishing. They started subtracting from the loaves but it was not getting any smaller. They started to divide the loaves, but the food kept multiplying. Every time Jesus and the disciples would break a piece off it would get bigger! They kept dividing up the food in one place but it was adding up somewhere else among the people. When Jesus was done, the fractions of food ended up being greater than the whole! They started with five loaves and two fishes and ended up with fragments of twelve baskets, Bless HIS name! Jesus is able to take something minute and small that is not able to help anybody and HE is able to feed your soul and others and meet your need! Maybe today you feel weary, weak, about to fall over and feel like you don’t have enough to make it. You feel there is not enough in your bank account to make it work, feel like you have not the strength physically to go another mile. It’s my prayer for you today, that you will let Jesus step in and breath on your situation. My Christian friend, give the little bit you do have to Jesus, let HIM start doing the adding and subtracting and putting HIS DIVINE MATH on your situation. If you do, do not be surprised when you keep going back to the barrel, back to the well of HIS provision and find out Jesus will never fail you.
