Oct. 20 Devotion:Are You Growing?

2 Thessalonians 1:3 We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;

1 Peter 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

2 Peter 3:18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

These verses really bring out a simple question. Are you growing? We should see our faith grow, our knowledge in Christ grow, and just grow as a Christian. It seems that far too many seem to think that they are saved and that’s good enough. Jesus did not give His life to save us just so that we could go to heaven. We should desire The Word and grow to fulfill the Great Comission. We don’t grow when we are: •Prideful and won’t admit we need to grow •Proud and think we know it all •Passive and just sit idly by

If we are to grow it all starts in the heart. We must allow God’s Word to: •Permeate our hearts-we have to allow God to work on our hearts •Prick our hearts-we must be willing to change when God shows us where we are wrong •Push our hearts-If we are never willing to be pushed and get out of our comfort zones then we will never grow into the Christian God wants us to be and we won’t be used to do His work.

Are you where God wants you to be today? Looking back even just a week ago, have you grown in The Lord or are you just staying where you are? Are you growing as a person? Are you doing all you can to be the best version of ourselves?
