Hope in Perilous Times
2 Timothy 3:1
This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
A verse that as time goes on gets used more and more. We know that everything that follows this verse goes on today. Not only does it go on, but it has become widely accepted as the norm to do some of these things. These are things that while we might not be able to stop or change, we can offer hope. There is only one thing that can give people hope in these days. That person is Jesus! If you’ve been born again then you hold the very thing that this world needs.
The question is, are we offering that hope? How often do we share the Gospel with others? Think of some of the excuses we might offer up:
The Bible says this is what’s going to happen, what am I going to do about it?
These people are just too far gone.
There are churches everywhere. If they want the truth then they can find it.
I could list even more. Who are we to decide who we think deserves to hear the Gospel? Did we deserve to hear it? The Bible gives us instruction on what to do in these days:
Matthew 28:19-20
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: [20] Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Yes, perilous times may be here. However, that’s no reason to just live our lives and go on about our day. Instead, we should show others what God has done in our lives. We have a hope in Jesus to offer others in these perilous times. The only hope they have of making it through these times!
God bless,
Bro. Josh Richardson
