WHO IS #1 IN YOUR LIFE???
Philippians 2:9-11 (9)Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: (10) That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; (11) And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me
For a few minutes today, I want to reflect on a topic we covered recently in our daily study. In a very busy world, with family, work, school, and daily activities and world events, we can very easily lose sight of priorities in our lives. I am so thankful for a Pastor and a church and for the sweet Spirit of God who is constantly reminding me, in relation to ETERNITY, what REALLY is important RIGHT NOW in my life?
We know that in our relationship with Jesus, HE is to have first place above all else in life. Thoughts, attitudes, and actions are to flow out of our intimate connection with HIM. But, as we have all no doubt discovered, this is not easy to do. Our own selfish nature hungers for supremacy, and the world with all its temptations encourages us to indulge ourselves. Even while carrying out the Lord’s work, we can lose sight of our #1 priority—deepening our intimacy with Christ.
(In Luke 10:38-42) When Jesus arrived, Mary stopped what she was doing so she could listen to HIS words and learn from HIM. Martha, distracted by all that was still to be done, kept working. The Lord affirmed Mary’s choice to be with HIM and urged Martha to follow her sister’s example. Both women expressed their love and care for Jesus through their actions, but Mary chose the better way.
Nothing should supersede our relationship with Christ; both character and conduct should reflect HIS likeness (Eph. 4:24). During Jesus’ visit, Martha—with the best of intentions—let her service for HIM become more important than time with HIM.
In the text Scripture above we see that GOD HIMSELF highly EXALTED Jesus and put HIM above everyone and everything else. Paul’s life demonstrates what it means to give Jesus first place, because he made Christ the Lord of his life (Gal 2:20). Brother Paul knew joy amid trials and received the strength to face turmoil and difficulty. Paul learned the necessity of daily surrender, crucifying his flesh, and yielding himself totally to his Lord.
My Christian friend, may we see that this life is NOT living if Christ does not live it, in and through us. HE gave it ALL on the cross, may we by faith, give HIM the #1 place in our hearts and lives. ALL the Blessings of God will be ours when we give highest priority to our relationship with Jesus. It’s never too late…today could be the day for revival in your heart and soul! If your friends observed your life, what would they say matters most to you??? Would you look within and then look around yourself? Look around your church and family, and look around our world and see our great need not to wait another day, another second, BUT NOW to yield and surrender all! This day, would you make Jesus #1 in your life?
