Oct. 26 Devotion: Lean Not Unto Thine Own Understanding
Lean Not On Thine Own Understanding
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. [6] In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
The problem with most of us is that we want to solve the problems of our lives without involving the Lord Jesus. We think that we know what's best for ourselves. The Bible says to trust in the Lord. We must rely upon the Lord for every need that we have. We like to give God about half control, and we take the other half. God wants full control. In reality, there is no one that you can trust like God. When you think of the word lean, it brings to mind someone who is tired and weak and they need someone else to support them. Who is better at supporting than the Lord Jesus? He said to acknowledge him, and he will direct your path. The Lord will not take over your life unless you submit to him.
To lean on someone means you know that you are unable to handle your problem. The first problem with leaning on someone else is we'll have to deal with pride. Because pride will say that you can handle life's problems, but you cannot. You need to learn to lean on the Lord Jesus Christ!
May God bless you,
